FIU Women's Hoops Begins Final Home Stretch of the Season with Louisiana Tech Thursday

The Panthers Dropped their previous matchup on the raod versus the Lady Techsters, 76-65

Miami, Fla. – The FIU women's basketball team (12-15, 7-11 C-USA) will start the final homestand of the regular season as they welcome Louisiana Tech University this Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m. ET inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.

Thursday, March 2 vs LA Tech  (17-11, 10-8 C-USA) FIU's offense is sixth in C-USA averaging 69.11 points per game and fourth in the league with 168 three pointers made averaging 6.22 per game. The Panthers are 7th in the conference shooting 71.9 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Senior guard Kaliah Henderson continued her streak of double-digit points after averaging 13 points per game in the most recent road trip. Henderson scored 16 points against UTEP and 10 points against UTSA Saturday afternoon.
 
Henderson has scored in double figures in 13 straight games and 16 of the last 17. She continues to lead FIU in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game, the seventh best scoring mark in C-USA, and eighth in the conference averaging 1.7 steals per game.
 
Redshirt junior Mihaela Lazic is coming off her highest two scoring games of the season during the last road trip. Against UTEP, Lazic led FIU with a career high 23 points off the bench on 10-15 shooting from the field (67%). Lazic led both teams in scoring and matched her career high with five assists.

Sophomore guard Tanajah Hayes is second on the Panthers and has lifted her scoring average to 10.0 points per game after a 15-point performance against the Miners. Hayes has scored double digits in six straight games and is averaging 14.8 points in that span. She is also second in C-USA averaging 2.4 steals per game and leads FIU averaging 3.65 assists. (4th in C-USA).
 
On the glass, the Panthers are second in the conference in rebounds averaging 38.93 per game, and first in C-USA averaging 14.81 offensive boards (400 total).

Defensively, the Panthers are second in the conference with 257 steals this season averaging 9.52 per game and second in forcing 18.41 turnovers per game for opposing teams. FIU also limits opponents to the second lowest shooting percentage from three-point range at 28.3 percent.
 
SCOUTING LA TECH
The Lady Techsters enter Thursday's contest 17-11 on the season with a 10-8 mark in conference play. LA Tech lost their previous contest against MTSU, 61-59, that snapped a five-game winning streak.

LA Tech is seventh in the conference in scoring averaging 65.96 points per game on 44.4% shooting (1st in C-USA). They also shoot 33.7 percent from three-point range to lead the conference and they 77.7 percent from the free throw line, the second highest mark in the league.
 
The Lady Techsters have two players averaging double figure points headlined by senior guard Keiunna Walker averaging 17.5 (2nd in C-USA) while junior forward Anna Lar Roberson is second on the team with 12.9. Roberson also leads the Lady Techsters on the glass averaging 6.9 rebounds per game.
