No. 36 FIU Women's Tennis Prevails over ETSU, Moves to 8-0 at Home

The Panthers advance their win streak to seven matches

MIAMI, Fla. – The No. 36 FIU women's tennis team notched a 4-2 win over ETSU on Wednesday afternoon to stay undefeated at FIU Tennis Courts this season and advance their win streak to seven matches. The Panthers move to 11-3 overall on the season, including 8-0 at home, while ETSU drops to 9-5 overall.
 
Salma Loudili and Katerina Mandelikova extended their doubles streak to six matches, collecting their 10th overall this year on Wednesday, while No. 56 Yasmine Kabbaj and Oyinlomo Quadre bounced back in the win column for their 11th win to notch the doubles point.
 
Kabbaj and Quadre collected FIU's first doubles win at the No. 1 position, 6-1, over ETSU's Laylo Bakhodirova and Mariya Shumeika, followed by the decisive clincher from Loudili and Mandelikova at the No. 3 position over Ralitsa Alexandrova and Emilia Alfaro, 6-0.
 
Loudili capitalized on the momentum out of doubles, tallying a 6-2, 6-0, win at the No. 4 position over ETSU's Alfaro, followed by Oyinlomo Quadre with a dominant 6-1, 6-1, win over Shumeika at No. 2 singles to jump to a 3-0 advantage.
 
The Bucs rallied behind a win at No. 6 singles to stay alive, seeing Kristina Miletic fall 3-6, 2-6, to ETSU's Ralitsa Alexandrova, as Katerina Mandelikova also slipped at No. 5 singles in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, to Rivera for a3-2 margin.
 
Yasmine Kabbaj and Kamila Umarova both remained in three-set battles on the No. 1 and No. 3 court, respectively, as Umarova gained a second wind to save the day for second straight match – downing Fernanda Carvajal, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, to cap the 4-2 win.
 
UP NEXT
FIU closes the home slate this Saturday, Mar. 18, in Miami, hosting Yale at the FIU Tennis Courts for a 12 p.m. matchup. The Panthers will honor senior Kristina Miletic on Senior Day prior to Saturday's match.
