No. 36 FIU Women's Tennis Caps Unbeaten Home Slate, Drops No. 72 Yale for Eighth Straight

Panthers finish undefeated at home (9-0) for the first time since 2018

MIAMI, Fla. – The No. 36 FIU women's tennis team finished its home slate undefeated for the first time since 2018, dropping No. 72 Yale at the FIU Tennis Courts on Senior Day, 5-2, to collect its eighth straight win on Saturday afternoon.
 
FIU moves to 12-3 overall and finishes 9-0 at home upon the victory.
 
The Panthers notched their 10th straight doubles point against the Bulldogs, seeing Salma Loudili and Katerina Mandelikova add their seventh straight win for 11 on the season, followed by No. 56 Yasmine Kabbaj and Oyinlomo Quadre with their 10th win together.
 
Loudili and Mandelikova quickly dropped Yale's Sophia Zaslow and Rebecca Lynn, 6-1, while Kabbaj and Quadre downed Rhea Shrivastava and Vivian Cheng, 6-2, to collect the doubles point.
 
The Panthers clinched with the first three singles wins, though, the match would be played out, as Yasmine Kabbaj rang in the first win on the No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-2, followed by Kamila Umarova with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles over Cheng, 6-0, 6-4, for a 3-0 lead.
 
Salma Loudili clinched at No. 5 singles over Zaslow, 6-3, 6-4, for her 10th dual win of the season, marking the first Panther to reach double digit wins this season.
 
Oyinlomo Quadre pushed the lead after a 6-4, 6-4, win at No. 3 singles over Yale's Guerry, though, Ekaterina Khairutdinova slipped in three sets on the No. 2 court, 0-6, 6-2, 3-6. Yale's Rebecca Lynn would finish the match coming away in a super tiebreaker over Katerina Mandelikova at No. 6 singles, 3-6, 7-5, 8-10, as FIU would walk away with the 5-2 victory, nonetheless.
