JACKSONVILLE, Fla (April 29, 2023) - The FIU track and field program concluded regular season action at the UNF East Coast Relays on Saturday, highlighted by a victory in the javelin from freshman
Cole Crkvenac and a second place performance in the pole vault from reigning second-team All-American
Filippa Miller.
Crkvenac's throw of 65.67m was good for first in a field of of 34 competitors.
Miller vaulted a season best 4.25m to place second of 28 competitors.
"Cole and Filippa put together strong performances to finish the regular season," said head coach
Ryan Heberling. "I'm excited to see them and our entire team put it on the line at conference."
In the discus,
Michaelle Valentin earned a third place mark of 52.51m, a day after earning a second place performance in the shot put.
Qua'liyyah Taylor followed closely behind in fourth with a throw of 50.75m.
FIU saw a number of personal best performances throughout the day, including Taylor's discus mark,
Delilah Ayan in the 5000m, and
Maika Cuenca,
Fabiola Declet, and
Nathan Stepp in the javelin.
The Panthers will now prepare for the Conference USA Championships, set to take place in Denton, Texas.
