BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 30, 2023) – The FIU baseball team faced off against Florida Atlantic on Sunday in the series finale, dropping the game, 7-1.
Alec Sanchez continued his amazing run in the batter's box, pushing his on-base streak to 25 games with a single in the top of the first.
FAU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first off RBI singles by Nolan Schanuel and John Schroeder.
The Owls added to their advantage in the third with a three-run home run from Mitchell Hartigan.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Owl lead grew to 6-0 after a RBI single by Jackson Ross.
Ruben Carpio put the Panthers on the board in the top of the sixth with a RBI single, his 22nd RBI of the season.
Schanuel added a second RBI to his total for the day with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Florida Atlantic would go up 10-1 in the eighth after Ross hit a RBI single and Schanuel hit a two-run home run over the right field wall.
The 10-1 scoreline would hold with FIU dropping the series finale to FAU.

The Panthers make a quick trip to Daytona on Wednesday to take on Bethune-Cookman. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
