JACKSONVILLE, Fla (May 27, 2023) -
Michaelle Valentin became the third FIU Panther this week to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, after a personal best of 55.33m that earned her a third place mark at the East Preliminaries.
Valentin's mark bested her previous PR of 54.76m she set earlier this year at the Hurricane Invitational.
"Michaelle put it all together today," said FIU head coach
Ryan Heberling. "To throw 55.06, then 55.33 - she was locked in and deserving of this performance."

Qua'liyyah Taylor finished 45th in her first NCAA Prelims.
In the high jump,
Celia Rifaterra capped an impressive freshman campaign with a 38th place mark, jumping 1.67m.
On Friday evening, Queshun-Watson Riggins placed 25th in the triple jump, two days after advancing to nationals in the long jump.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will take place Wednesday, June 7 through Saturday, June 10.
