DALLAS, Texas – The 2023-24 conference schedule for the FIU men's basketball team was released by the Conference USA on Monday, as the 16-game slate includes eight home CUSA matchups inside Ocean Bank Convocation Center.

On July 1, CUSA welcomed Jacksonville State, Liberty, NM State and Sam Houston to bring the league's membership to nine schools, along with FIU, LA Tech, MTSU, UTEP and WKU.

The nine schools that make up the conference's men's basketball lineup have combined for 86 NCAA Tournament appearances, led by 23 trips to the Big Dance by NM State. Three of the four incoming institutions have made NCAA Tournament appearances in the last three years (Jax State – 2022; Liberty – 2021; NM State – 2022).
 
The schedule opens for the Panthers against two of the CUSA's four newest additions to the league, as FIU travels to Alabama to face Jacksonville State in its league opener on Saturday, Jan. 6, prior to returning home to host New Mexico State in Miami on Thursday, Jan. 11.
 
FIU hosts UTEP on Saturday, Jan. 13., before embarking on a three-game road swing to conclude the month of January with matchups at Liberty (Jan. 18), Western Kentucky (Jan. 25) and Middle Tennessee (Jan. 27).
 
The month of February features five matchups inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, as the Panthers then return for a three-game homestand in Miami, welcoming LA Tech on Thursday, Feb. 1, and Sam Houston on Saturday, Feb. 3, prior to hosting Middle Tennessee the following week on Saturday, Feb. 10.
 
A pair of road tilts ensue at Sam Houston (Feb. 15) and LA Tech (Feb. 17) prior to FIU returning for its final homestand in Miami with matchups against Liberty (Feb. 22), Jacksonville State (Feb. 24) and Western Kentucky (Mar. 2).
 
The Panthers then wrap up the CUSA regular season slate on the road at UTEP (Mar. 7) and at New Mexico State (Mar. 9). The Conference USA Tournament is slated to be held in Huntsville, Ala., on Mar. 12-16.
 
The 2024 Conference USA Basketball Championships will be hosted at Propst Arena in Huntsville, Ala., March 12-16.

FIU enters the 2023-24 season under the guidance of head coach Jeremy Ballard in his sixth year at the helm of the program, as the Panthers welcome back Conference USA Freshman of the Year Arturo Dean, who also landed spots on the league's All-Defensive, All-Freshman team and All-Conference Honorable Mention, in addition to All-Freshman Team selection Dashon Gittens.
