MIAMI – The 2023-24 conference schedule for the FIU women's basketball team was released by Conference USA on Tuesday, as the Panthers will play 16 games against conference opponents including eight home CUSA matchups at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
The schedule kicks off for the Panthers at home against one of the four new additions to CUSA, as FIU hosts Jacksonville State in its league opener on Saturday, Jan. 6, before going on the road to take on New Mexico State on Thursday, Jan. 11.
The road trip continues the following week for FIU as it heads to El Paso for a matchup against UTEP on Saturday, Jan. 13. From there the Panthers will head back to Miami to start a three- game home swing with matchups against Liberty (Jan. 18), Western Kentucky (Jan. 25) and Middle Tennessee (Jan. 27).
The month of February starts with three road contests for the Panthers beginning with a matchup against Louisiana Tech on Thursday Feb. 1, Sam Houston on Saturday, Feb. 3, before concluding the road trip the following week on Saturday, Feb. 10 against Middle Tennessee.
The Panthers follow by returning to the OBCC for two games against Sam Houston on Thursday, Feb. 15 and Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Feb. 17. After that homestand, the Panthers embark on their final road trip of the season with matchups against Liberty (Feb. 22), Jacksonville State (Feb. 24) and Western Kentucky (Mar. 2).
FIU concludes the CUSA portion of the schedule at home vs. on UTEP on Thursday, Mar. 7 and host New Mexico State on Saturday, Mar. 9 for the regular season finale.
The Conference USA Tournament will be held in Huntsville, Ala., on Mar. 12-16.
FIU enters the 2023-24 season with head coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley in her fourth year leading the program, as the Panthers welcome back Conference USA All- Conference Second Team selection Kaliah Henderson, who led the Panthers in scoring averaging 15.7 points per game (5th in C-USA).
