MIAMI - Swimming and Diving opened their season Wednesday afternoon against the Miami Hurricanes in a dual-meet, falling 167.5-107.5 from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
The Panthers added with six top three finishes and three first place finishes.
FIU saw a strong performance in the Women 100-yard breaststroke with
Ingrid Huszar taking 1
st place with a time of 1:04:61 while fifth-year
Delaine Goll took 2
nd place with a posted time of 1:05:05.
Sophomore
Nicole Frank posted 1
st place finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing with a time of a 2:20:03 and the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 2:06:23.
Freshman
Diana Santamaria placed 3
rd in the 50-yard Free in her FIU debut, posting a time of 23.83.
Sophomore
Emma Becker added with a personal-best of 2:07:69 in the 200-yard IM, her best time in her dual-meet career.
In addition, sophomore
Oumy Diop placed third in the 100-yard Butterfly with a 57.58 recorded time.
In the relays, the team of Santamaria, Huszar, Diop, and
Jessica Shpilko took second in the 200-yard medley relay with a posted time of 1:43.12. FIU took third in the 400-yard relay as Diop, Shpilko,
Ana Luiza Daisson, and
Harliai Curthoys-Davies recorded a 3:32:73 time.
On the diving side, FIU shined placing a pair of top finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter.
Ruska Lehtonen took first place on the 1-meter with 252.30 points while
Alexa Lemus Hernandez and
Mikaela Starr took second and third spots.
In the 3-meter, freshman
Kristina Keenan added with a total score of 265.20 in her Panther debut while Lehtonen and Lemus followed along with solid performances.
