MIAMI – The FIU swimming and diving program wrapped up the home portion of the meet season, taking down the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 194-106 on senior day Saturday morning from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
Prior to the meet, the Panthers recognized seniors

Delaney Biro,
Paige Burrell,
Christie Chue,
Ryan Flynn,
Delaine Goll,
Alexa Lemus Hernandez,
Ellie Maradyn,
Mikaela Starr, and
Mia Zahab.
On the day, FIU racked up 10 first-place finishes out of the 14 events Saturday morning. A total of seven different Panthers claimed first place in individual events.
Highlighting the meet was senior
Christie Chue, who notched four first places finishes including two victories on the relays. Chue anchored on the 200-yard medley relay and helped FIU win first-place with a time of 28.65. In the 200-freestyle relay, Chue posted a time of 23.54 to lead FIU to victory.
The standout swimmer from Singapore also won individual events in the 100-breaststroke posting a time of 1:02.89. She capped off her home career securing a FIU Aquatic Center Pool Record in the 200-breaststroke for a time of 2:14.65 respectively.
Sophomore
Harliai Curthoys-Davies notched a first-place finish in the 200-freestyle for a finals time of 1:53.74 while also netting a second-place finish in the 500-freestyle (5:11.04)
Jordan Browning and
Mia Zahab earned top finishes on the morning as Browning took first in the 100-backstroke (59.12) while Zahab scored first in the 200-butterfly for a time of 2:07.01.
Nicole Frank tallied a first-place finish in the 400-IM, leading the way with a time of 4:32.15
Freshmans
Sophie Kiryk and
Linnea Gipperth secured wins in the individual events as Kiryk earned a first-place finish in the 1000-freestyle (10:34.05) as Gipperth took first in the 200-backstroke (2:07.00).
The Panthers dominated the relay events, sweeping the pair of events. The team of
Diana Santamaria, Chue,
Oumy Diop, and
Jessica Shpilko placed first in the 200-medley relay for a time of 1:45.88. FIU logged their second relay win as the team of Santamaria, Shpilko, Curthoys-Davies, and Chue scored a time of 1:35.35 in the 200-freestyle relay.
On the boards, FIU swept on both the 1-meter and 3-meter over FGCU as Burrell took home first in both events. The reigning AAC diver of the week scored a 290.10 on the 1M, while logging a score of 300.83 on the 3-meter. Sophomore
Ruska Lehtonen earned second-place finishes on both events, scoring 266.18 on the 1M and 289.05 in the 3M which earned the Helsinki, Finland her NCAA zone cut on both events. In addition, freshman
Kristina Keenan took third on the 3M, a season-high and NCAA zone cut qualifier.
UP NEXT
The Panthers head north to Boca Raton to take on the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday, Jan. 27. Competition is set to begin at 10 a.m.
