Cross Country Competes at Alabama’s Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — FIU's cross country programs took part in the Crimson Classic on Friday morning, hosted by the University of Alabama. 

Both the men's and women's programs competed in Tuscaloosa in their final events before the upcoming Conference USA (CUSA) Championships in Oxford, Ala. on Friday, Nov. 1. FIU's women finished 15th while the men finished 14th in a field of major conference opponents. 

Ali Del Re finished 64th overall to lead the women's team with a time of 21:13. FIU's second finisher Ane Martin Del Campo placed 81st in 21:36. Lisa Adjouadi and Ania San Roman Lopez made up the top four with times of 22:11.8 and 22:34.9, respectively. Lorena Enamored was FIU's final scorer in the top five with a time of 22:50.1. 

Catalina Maldonado (24:11), Luana Kopp (24:59), Kelly Santana (25:11), Daniela Alvarez (25:18) and Christiana Rosica (27:09) all competed as well for the Panthers. 

On the men's side, Ryan Jones was FIU's top placer with a time of 27:20. Jeshua Osorio (27:28), Brad Malick-Beltran (27:44) and Dennis Moreno (27:46) took the next three Panther spots. Jonathan Reyes rounded out the top-five, finishing in 28:50. 

Micah Neese (29:14) and Royce Eggert (30:06) also raced for FIU. 

UP NEXT

Both programs will participate in the CUSA Championships on Friday, Nov. 1 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.
