ATLANTA — FIU's Ekaterina Khairutdinova earned the 2024 ITA Singles Southeast Regional crown on Tuesday afternoon, making history as the first-ever Panther to achieve this feat.
Khairutdinova faced off with Miami's Raquel Gonzalez in the final and won 6-3, 6-1 to claim victory. She adds the ITA Southeast Regional crown to a trophy case that already includes two CUSA Championships and several All-CUSA honors.
The junior from Krasnodar, Russia also secured automatic qualification in the NCAA Individual Tournament, Nov. 19-22 in Waco, Texas. She is FIU's last champion at the ITA Southeast Regional since Maryna Veksler and Ulyana Grib won the doubles title in 2017.
Along the way, Khairutdinova defeated opponents from Miami, Florida State, Georgia and UCF.
