PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The FIU men's soccer program earned a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon to the Temple Owls in a conference affair.
In their final road game of the regular season, the Panthers (4-5-5, 2-2-2 AAC) displayed resilience against a determined Owls side. FIU managed just seven shots but preserved a clean sheet—their third of the season, last coming on Saturday, Oct. 12 on the road at Charlotte. In addition, it marks the fifth draw of the season all coming on the road for FIU>
The first half saw FIU leading the shot count with four attempts compared to Temple's two, while goalkeeper Beltran Fernandez made his lone save of the afternoon in the 18th minute. This game marked Fernandez's first career start, having come in as a substitute last Sunday, Oct. 20 against Florida Atlantic
Both teams battled through the second half, ultimately sharing the points. The Panthers came close to a breakthrough in the 85th minute when freshman Prince Ngeleka fired a shot that struck the crossbar.
Five Panthers logged the full 90 minutes, including defenders Edgar Aguilar and David Houja, as well as midfielders David Boccuzzo, Diego Castillo, and Mathys Lefebvre
With eight points, FIU now stands fifth in the AAC conference standings.
UP NEXT
FIU will conclude the regular season at home on Friday, Nov. 1, facing Memphis. The evening will also celebrate Senior Night and Alumni Night, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The match will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.
