Dallas, Texas - Panthers' forward Noemi Paquin, defender Reagan Bridges and goalkeeper Valery Restrepo have all been awarded Conference USA Player of the Week honors, for the period ending October 6, conference officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Noemi Paquin, after winning three consecutive CUSA Offensive Player of the Week awards that last three weeks, receives the honor yet again for her fourth week in a row.
The Canadian native had another great game against New Mexico State, scoring the game-winning goal thanks to a Camille Sahirul assist at the 44:14 mark just before the half to make it a 1-0 game. After the Panthers scored another goal thanks to Nikole Solis's sixth of the season, Paquin continued her dominance with a score at the 60:59 mark for her second of the game, once again assisted by Camille Sahirul, making the score 3-0.
The match marks the fourth multi-goal game in a row for Paquin, scoring nine goals in her last four games, the most in the nation in that timeframe. The forward's first goal of the match marks her fourth game-winning goal of the season, good for seventh in the nation. Her 0.91 goals per game ranks fifth in the nation on the season, while her 1.91 points per game thus far this season ranks tenth in the NCAA and her total points of 21 ranks 20th in the country.
Senior Reagan Bridges wins her second CUSA Defensive Player of the Week award after an incredible match against New Mexico State.Â
Bridges, along with the rest of the Panther defense, held the Aggies to just one shot and zero shots on goal the entire match, the lowest shot total of the season for New Mexico State and the third time they have been shutout on the year, the first two times being at the hands of Arizona and Washington.
The defender from Colorado played 90 minutes in the match, her ninth time doing so this season, and has started every game for the Panthers this season.
Goalkeeper Valery Restrepo completes the weekly award sweep with her fourth CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week award this season and second in a row.
The sophomore completed her third shutout of the season, with the previous two coming against in-state rival Florida Atlantic, and Liberty. The Colombian native did not see any shots on goal the entire match, but was a force to be reckoned with regardless, knocking away chances the Aggies might have gotten, including knocking away a good corner kick outside the box.Â
Restrepo has started every game for the Panthers, and has played 90 minutes in eight out of 11 games for FIU this season. The standout sophomore in her first season with the Panthers has dropped her GAA down to 0.657 on the year, second in CUSA and 38th in the country.Â
