Coral Gables, Fla. - FIU Women's Basketball drops their contest against their cross-town foes, Miami, 79-51.
The Panthers had a good first quarter, with five players scoring in the frame led by senior Tanajah Hayes with five points. Junior Parris Atkins, senior Bineta Diatta and senior Lucia Fleta Robles all had four points in the quarter. FIU and Miami would end the period tied at 19 a piece.
Miami broke away in the second frame, scoring 21 points. The Hurricanes led going into the half 40-27.
The Panthers fought in the third quarter, holding Miami to just 5-19 shooting and 1-11 from three in the penultimate 10 minutes. Senior Isnelle Natabou led the team with five points in the period.Â
FIU could not claw their way back in the final frame and would drop their third matchup of the season.
Parris Atkins led the charge for the Panthers with 12 points, while sophomore Fantasia James and Isnelle Natabou both tacked on nine.
FIU led with 37 rebounds to the Hurricane's 35, and led the second-chance points effort, 16-12.

FIU will be back at it this Saturday when they take on in-state rival, Florida Atlantic on November 23 at 1 p.m. The matchup will be broadcasted on ESPN+ with live stats available.
