WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The FIU women's swimming and diving team continued their strong performance on day two of the Purdue Invitational, maintaining their second-place standing after a full slate of events at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
The Panthers showcased their depth with six top-five finishes, including a second consecutive relay victory. The 200-medley relay team of
Oumy Diop,
Diana Santamaria,
Jessica Shpilko, and Frida Stretre Løbersli claimed first place with an impressive time of 1:37.55.
Freshman standout Stretre Løbersli shined in the 100-breast, earning second place in the A-Final with a 1:01.12 finish that achieved an NCAA "B" Cut. Junior
Emma Becker followed closely in third (1:01.58), and
Sally Olsson placed sixth (1:01.98). In the B-Final,
Ingrid Huszar swam to third place, clocking in at 1:02.92.
The 400 IM brought more success, with graduate
Ellie Maradyn taking second in the A-Final (4:18.98) and junior
Nicole Frank finishing fifth (4:20.61).
Lutnya Bogdanova claimed victory in the B-Final (4:29.52), while sophomore
Sophie Kiryk secured third (4:33.94).
In the 100-fly,
Oumy Diop placed sixth in the A-Final (54.69). The Panthers swept the top three spots in the B-Final, led by
Tawannah McLemore (54.87),
Imara-Bella Thorpe (55.89), and
Jordan Browning (55.96).
Delaney Biro (56.85) and Shpilko (57.86) rounded out the B-Final with seventh and eighth places, respectively.
Junior
Ana Luiza Daisson placed seventh in the 200-freestyle (1:51.78), while
Harliai Curthoys-Davies claimed third in the B-Final (1:51.64). In the 100-back,
Diana Santamaria posted a strong fourth-place finish (55.00), and freshman
Claudia Frasca secured third in the B-Final (56.02).
Jordan Browning added a sixth-place finish (57.25).
On the diving boards, graduate
Av Osero led FIU with a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter final, earning a score of 310.73—the sixth-highest mark in program history.
Kristina Keenan (264.53) and
Ruska Lehtonen (259.05) finished ninth and tenth, respectively. The Panthers also competed in the team diving event, taking third place with a 295.15 score behind Purdue.
