RUSTON, La. — FIU's volleyball program was defeated in straight sets at Louisiana Tech in Conference USA (CUSA) play on Friday evening. 

The Panthers (6-23, 4-11 CUSA) battled the Bulldogs (7-21, 1-14 CUSA) in the opening frame, but fell 28-26 in set one. From there, Louisiana Tech gained momentum in the match, winning the final two frames 25-16 and 25-17, respectively. 

Travel Morris led the Panthers with 10 kills and Jillian Huckabey totaled nine in support. Morris hit .364 in the match to pace the offensive effort. 

Savannah Cook dished out 21 assists while Mandi Morioka anchored the back line with 14 digs. Substitute Colby Lane chipped in 10 digs. 

In the opening set, FIU trailed early, but tied up the score at 24-all after a kill from Camryn Jones. A Morris kill put the Panthers up 26-25, but La Tech scored then final three points for a 28-26 win. 

Sets two and three featured early runs from the Bulldogs, cruising to nine and eight-point victories. 

Louisiana Tech totaled 17 blocks in the match.
