DAVIE, Fla. – The FIU swimming & diving program dominated the weekend, earning a tri-meet sweep of Nova Southeastern and Lynn, while diving swept Florida Atlantic in the South Florida Diving Invitational.
FIU earned a 262-126 win over Lynn, while taking down the Sharks of Nova Southeastern 235.5-152.5
In the pool, the Panthers claimed victory in 12 events, with 30 top three finishes across the two-day meet, winning 12 of the 21 events contested.
Freshman
Tawannah McLemore led FIU with four first-place finishes, including two individual titles in the 50-yard freestyle (23.34) and 100-yard individual medley (57.94), along with two relay victories. McLemore's contributions helped the 400-yard medley relay team, alongside
Oumy Diop,
Diana Santamaria, and Frida Stretre Løbersli, to secure first place with a time of 3:47.41.
The team of Diop, McLemore, Santamaria, and
Jessica Shpilko also took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle relay, recording the third-fastest time in FIU dual-meet history.
Freshman Frida Stretre Løbersli also made a strong impression with four first-place finishes, including individual wins in the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke events. Her time of 28.78 in the 50-breaststroke set a new FIU dual-meet record. She also contributed to victories in both the 400- and 200-yard medley relays.
Sophomore
Diana Santamaria added four first-place finishes, with a standout swim in the 50-yard backstroke (25.90), the second-fastest time in FIU dual-meet history. She also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (56.88) and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (23.91).
Junior
Oumy Diop earned a first-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly, setting an FIU dual-meet record, and recorded a time of 56.59 in the 100-yard butterfly. Diop also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team, which placed second with a time of 3:30.65.
Gabrielle Puryear-Lynch took first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.98) and tied for third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.35).
Junior
Nicole Frank impressed with a time of 4:26.31 in the 400-yard individual medley, and placed third in the 200-yard IM (2:08.17).
Jessica Shpilko added top-three finishes with second place in the 50-yard butterfly (25.30) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (23.83).
In the breaststroke events,
Sally Olsson won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.28) and placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.43). Junior
Ingrid Huszar recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.22) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.59).
At the South Florida Diving Invitational, the FIU divers swept all three events—1-meter, 3-meter, and platform. Graduate student
Av Osero led the squad, securing first place in each event with NCAA zone cuts, including a platform score of 259.43, which ranks 10th all-time in program history. Osero also scored 298.05 in the 3-meter and 281.63 in the 1-meter events.
Sophomore
Kristina Keenan achieved a zone cut on platform with a score of 243.23 and took third in the 3-meter (265.43). Junior
Ruska Lehtonen earned three top-three finishes, including two second-place scores in the 1-meter (257.03) and 3-meter (272.03).
Sophomore
Sydney Soto scored a career-high on platform (204.23), while freshman
Brooke Megdall added two fifth-place finishes and took fourth in the 1-meter (247.13).
