MIAMI - FIU Women's Basketball falls in the championship matchup of the FIU Thanksgiving Classic to Abilene Christian, 87-67.
The game started off as a back-and-forth affair, with the game tied at 13 with 4:33 left in the first quarter, until ACU used a 12-0 run to take the lead, heading into the next frame, 25-13.
FIU fought back in the second quarter, out-scoring the Wildcats 20-17 in the second quarter, with five Panthers scoring in the frame, led by junior Parris Atkins with six points. The Arkansas-native ended in double-digits with 15 points, tacking on three rebounds, five assists and four steals. FIU would trail heading into the break 42-33.
The Panthers continued to cut down the deficit in the third quarter, once again out-scoring ACU, 23-19. Junior Angena Belloso took over for FIU with 12 points in the third alone. The guard finished with a career-high 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Panthers headed into the final quarter down 61-56.
FIU could not battle back in the fourth quarter and would fall short.
Senior Lucia Fleta Robles was the final Panther to end in double digits, ending the day with 11 points on 5-7 shooting.

The Panthers will be back in action against Yale on Saturday, December 7 at 1 p.m. at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
