Football Adds Eight Student-Athletes on Early Signing Day

Panthers add eight incoming freshmen

MIAMI – The FIU football program added a total of eight student-athletes on the opening day of the NCAA Early Signing Period on Wednesday.
 
The Panthers' class includes a total of eight incoming freshmen.
 
FIU has signed a total of five new players on the offensive side of the ball, including two wide receivers, one running back, one offensive lineman and one tight end.
 
Defensively, the Panthers inked a total of three student-athletes, including two linebackers and a defensive back.
 
Each of the eight members of the class hail from the state of Florida, including three players from Miami-Dade County and four players from Broward County.
 
2025 EARLY SIGNING CLASS
Sean Burke
TE – 6'5 – 217 – Hollywood, Fla. (South Broward)
 
Prep: Two-way player at South Broward High School in Hollywood…saw time at tight end and as an edge rusher…projected to play tight end at FIU…caught 45 passes for 709 yards and a touchdown during junior campaign…registered 80 pancake blocks and recorded 43 tackles, including 16 TFLs and eight sacks…snagged 35 receptions as a senior for 796 yards and two touchdowns…averaged 22.7 yards per catch…had a long grab of 60 yards…recorded 21 pancake blocks and 33 tackles and 22 TFLs on the defensive side…also played baseball at South Broward.
 
Tyson Carter
WR – 5'11 – 160 – Orlando, Fla. (Edgewater)
 
Prep: Speedy wide receiver who prepped at Edgewater High School in Orlando…caught 30 passes for 636 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior…averaged 21.2 yards per reception…recorded four receptions for 36 yards as a junior.
 
Cam Davis
LB – 6'1 – 208 – Pompano Beach, Fla. (Ely)
 
Prep: Three-year starter at linebacker for Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach…also saw time as a  tight end during senior campaign…strong and tough inside linebacker…recorded 64 tackles as a senior along with four sacks…recorded an interception vs. Deerfield Beach and returned it for 25 yards…added for passes defended…caught three passes for 110 yards and a 80-yard  touchdown…registered 114 tackles as a junior with four sacks…added two interceptions and forced a fumble.
 
Sterling Joseph
RB – 5'8 – 175 – Miami, Fla. (Miami Edison)
 
Prep: Dynamic running back from Miami Edison High School that ran for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of last three seasons…posted 1,570 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior while averaging 9.7 yards per carry…tallied eight games of 100 yards or more…hauled in eight receptions for 218 yards and two touchdowns…averaged 27.3 yards per catch and tabbed an 80 reception for a score…rushed for an identical 1,570 yards as a junior with 12 touchdowns…averaged 9.7 yards per rush…caught nine passes for 104 yards...younger brother of former FIU running back Lexington Joseph.
 
Matthew Pointer
LB – 6'4 – 236 – Hollywood, Fla. (Chaminade-Madonna)
 
Prep: Long athletic edge pass rusher from Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, Fla…also competed as a varsity basketball player at Chaminade-Madonna…recorded 42 tackles, including an eye-popping 20.5 TFLs during senior season…registered 7.5 sacks and forced one fumble while recovering two…defended three passes.
 
Kelvin Reyes
DB – 6'0 – 169 – Pembroke Pines, Fla. (West Broward)
 
Prep: Athletic defensive back out of West Broward High School in Pembroke Pines…also played baseball at West Broward…three-year starter at West Broward…totaled 37 tackles, including 2.0 TFLs as a senior…also notched two interceptions…tabbed 46 tackles as a junior along with four interceptions and eight passes defended…added a fumble recovery…recorded an interception during sophomore season along with 35 tackles.
 
Jeremy Smith
OL – 6'5 – 252 – Miami, Fla. (Miami Central)
 
Prep: Physical and athletic offensive lineman out of Miami Central High School…also played basketball at Miami Central…helped lead Miami Central to a No. 13 ranking in the state of Florida as a senior.
 
Kenny Williams
WR – 5'9 – 160 – Miami, Fla. (Gulliver Prep)
 
Prep: Played all over the field during career at Gulliver Prep…saw time on both sides of the ball, including as a Wildcat quarterback and special teams…posted over 1,000 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns during senior season…caught 42 passes for 711 yards and two touchdowns as a senior while averaging 16.9 yards per reception…snagged 49 passes for 733 yards and two touchdowns as a junior…added 23 catches for 263 yards and one touchdown as a sophomore and 10 receptions for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a freshman.
