MIAMI – FIU sophomore
Isabella Perez ripped a single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth that scored
Kally Meredith with the eventual winning run in a 3-1 victory over Pittsburgh on Tuesday afternoon.
The win marked the second straight for the Panthers and their first over an ACC opponent since defeating Syracuse in 2020.
Lansdell got the scoring started with a solo blast to left after three and a half scoreless innings to open the contest. The homer run marked her second in the last two games and her fourth over the previous seven games.
Pittsburgh (8-15) answered with a solo shot of its own to lead off the top of the fifth by Kylie Griggs, to tie the score at 1-1.
FIU's
Casey Goguts added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with a two-out single that plated
Zamya McBurrows, to extend the lead to 3-1.
Panthers' starting pitcher
Jewelie Vanderkous (2-2) notched the win after holding Pittsburgh to just one run and three hits over six innings. Junior
Alina Varga closed it out with a shutout frame in the seventh.
UP NEXT
The Panthers (13-14) will head to Western Kentucky this weekend for their first road series of the Conference USA slate beginning on Friday, March 15. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. ET for the ESPN+ broadcast.
