CORAL GABLES, Fla –
Austin Dearing led FIU with a three-hit night but it was not enough as the Miami Hurricanes rallied back to win and walk off the Panthers, 4-3, on Tuesday night from Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
In a 2-2 ballgame heading to the seventh, Dearing belted his first homer of the year to right field to put the Panthers up a score. Miami answered with a run scored on a fielder's choice in the bottom half of the eighth before walking off in the ninth on a bunt single.
Dearing led the Panthers with three hits, extending his hit streak to seven games and on-base streak up to eight. In addition, the redshirt junior has notched 12 hits in his past seven games played.
FIU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to an RBI double for
Ryne Guida down the left field line. Three batters later,
Jeff Liquori singled to center for a base knock, scoring Guida as he secured his team-leading 22
nd RBI of the season. The Lake Mary Fla., native finished off the night with a two-hit performance.
Miami responded back in the bottom half of the first plating a pair of RBI on a single from freshman Daniel Cuvet.
The pitching settled in for both sides as
