MIAMI – The FIU softball team battled back from a 3-0 deficit before falling by a 4-3 margin to Liberty in the second game of a three-game conference series on Saturday afternoon at Felsberg Field.
Liberty claimed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with a pair of unearned run that crossed on a single by Brooke Roberts. The inning was aided by a fielding miscue by the Panthers with two outs.
The Flames increased the margin to 3-0 on a solo homer to center by Rachel Roupe in the top of the second.
FIU rallied to deadlock the score at 3-3 with a three-run fourth that was sparked by a single from
Isabella Perez which scored a pair after
Bailey Grossenbacher crossed with the opening run of the frame on a RBI groundout by
Zamya McBurrows.
The Flames reclaimed the lead for good on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth that scored Lily Heidorn to make the score 4-3.

The Panthers conclude the weekend conference series with the Flames on Sunday, March 10 in an 11 a.m. start at Felsberg Field.
