MIAMI — FIU's 27th-ranked women's tennis program continued its quest for a repeat with a 4-1 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon, advancing to the Conference USA (CUSA) Championship Match.
The Panthers took the doubles point and won three-of-four completed singles matches to earn the 4-1 win at the PayCargo Tennis Center.
FIU adds to its 17-match win streak and remains undefeated at home, sporting a 14-0 record at its home facility. Oyinlomo Quadre and Katerina Mandelikova opened doubles with a 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot.
Ekaterina Khairutdinova and Salma Loudili clinched the doubles point for FIU with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Valery Gynina gave FIU a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 3 slot. After La Tech secured a win at No. 6 singles, Quadre finished off her opponent with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 to give FIU a 3-1 lead.
Khairutdinova produced a comeback win with a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles to clinch the 4-1 win for the Panthers.
