MIAMI - After being named the Conference USA hitter of the week on Monday, FIU Baseball's Armando Becerra has been named the National Co-Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the association announced on Tuesday. Becerra was one of three Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week award winners, along National Co-Hitter of the Week Jacob Walsh (Oregon) and National Pitcher of the Week Gage Jump (LSU).

Becerra had a sensational weekend in the sweep of New Mexico State, notching a cycle on Saturday, April 20 vs New Mexico State, the first for the program since 1980. The senior went 5-for-6 on the afternoon with seven runs driven in and even had the eventual game-winning hit in the ninth as the Panthers won 18-12 in Las Cruces.
 
Overall, Becerra had nine hits, nine RBI, three HR, two doubles and one triple in the weekend sweep vs New Mexico State. In addition, he hit a home run in each of the games played, boasting his batting average to .348 with five homers and 21 RBI.
 
Becerra was part of a offense over the weekend that had driven in 67 hits, 46 runs, 17 doubles, and 11 HRs as a ballclub. Currently, FIU has won four in a row alongside an overall record of 23-17 with a 10-5 Conference USA mark that is tied for second in CUSA.
 
It marks the first NCBWA Hitter of the Week honor since 2012 when outfielder Pablo Bermudez won the weekly national award.
