STILLWATER, Okla. — FIU's women's tennis tandem of Katerina Mandelikova and Oyinlomo Quadre pulled off a dramatic, come-from-behind victory over the No. 25 pair from Ohio State to advance to the Quarterfinals Round of the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championships, hosted by Oklahoma State.
Mandelikova and Quadre, who entered the competition ranked 56th in the nation, earned a trip to the Round of 16 with a thrilling 10-8 win in a tiebreak after splitting the opening two sets.
This duo fell in Set One 6-3 before storming back with an identical 6-3 win in the second set to send the match to the tiebreak round. A victory in tomorrow's Round of 16 will secure All-America status for the sophomore duo.
FIU's No. 1 doubles pairing will take on Texas Tech's Metka Komac and Avelina Sayfetdinova, the nation's fifth-ranked doubles pairing.
