MIAMI – The FIU swimming and diving program will be well represented at the 2024 Paris Olympics when swimmers Oumy Diop and Nicole Frank will participate in the summer games.
Diop will represent Senegal in the 100m butterfly, while Frank made the Uruguay national team as a swimmer in the 200m IM in Paris.
"The Olympics are the dream of every swimmer from a young age," said head coach Randy Horner. "To be a part of the realization of that dream is amazing. I'm so happy for Oumy and Niky punching their tickets to Paris. They are representing FIU and their countries at the highest level."
It marks the second consecutive Olympics that FIU will have a pair of athletes competing on a national stage with swimmer Elinah Phillip and diver Maha Gouda participating in 2021 from Tokyo, Japan.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will be the first time in program history that two swimmers from FIU will represent their home countries in the summer games.
Diop will participate in her first ever Olympics for her home country of Senegal. The rising junior is the nation's top female swimmer with seven national records.
Frank is competing in her second Olympics after finishing 27th at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in the 200 IM.
