The Panthers are fresh off a 2-0 win over in-state rival, Florida Atlantic. Sophomore goalkeeper Valery Restrepo completed her first shutout as a member of the Panthers after the Owls got off nine shots in the game. Florida Atlantic only had one shot on goal, which was saved by Restrepo for her only save of the game.

After stealing the ball on the Owls' third of the field, Noemi Paquin put a move on a Florida Atlantic defender and found the back of the net to open up the scoring for the Panthers, putting them up 1-0 at the 10:03 mark. It was the first goal of the year for the 2023 First Team All-CUSA recipient.

Neither team scored again until the 88th minute, when sophomore Montelene Dymond scored her first goal as a member of the Panthers, putting FIU up 2-0 and sealing the game.

The victory was the first winning result for the Panthers against the Owls since the 2013 season, breaking an 11-year streak.

SO FAR THIS SEASON

FIU is 2-1 through three games in the young season. Their first win of the year came in a 2-1 victory against FGCU, a team the Panthers had not beaten since the 2010 season. The first goal of the season was recorded by first year Antonella Solari, assist by fellow first year Rebecca Baldelomar to tie the game late in the first half.

Their only loss of the year thus far came against Oklahoma, falling to the Sooners 2-1. Nikole Solis is the leading goal scorer for the Panthers early in the 2024 campaign, scoring the winning goal against FGCU and the tying goal against Oklahoma before the Sooners took the lead once more.

THE RETURNERS

FIU welcomes back nine seniors this season, including First Team All-CUSA selection Noemi Paquin, Second Team selections Reagan Bridges, Camille Sahirul and Nikole Solis, and Third Team selection Delinda Sehlin.

Solis was the leading scorer for the Panthers in 2023 with 10 goals, and led CUSA in points with 23, while Paquin was eighth in CUSA in points last season with five goals and five assists.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS

Jacksonville has started the 2024 campaign 0-2, with their first loss coming in a tight 1-0 match with ACC opponent Boston College, and their second loss coming against USF, 5-1. The Dolphins were ranked 11 out of 12 in the 2024 ASUN Preseason Poll after going 3-11-4 last season with a 1-8-2 conference record.

Jacksonville's only goal on the season was scored by redshirt senior defender Logan Gonzales, good for her third goal of her career.

The Panthers have won five of their last six matchups against the Dolphins, and are 5-4 in their matchups since 2003.
