Miami, Fla. – The Panthers (5-3) take their second game in a row in a 3-0 victory over Southeast Missouri State (0-5) on Vice Night. Noemi Paquin scored a goal in both halves for FIU, with Catherine Rapp notching one for herself.
The Panthers' offense showed their strength early and often, controlling the ball for the majority of the first half and getting off nine total shots and five shots on goal in the first 45 minutes.
Senior Noemi Paquin broke the tie with the game-winning goal at the 21:18 mark, assisted by junior Catherine Rapp. It is the Canadian native's second goal of the season, with her first coming from a game-winning score against Florida Atlantic.
The Panthers continued to create chances for themselves, but would evidently go into the half with a 1-0 lead.
Out of the half, FIU once again dominated possession and wasted no time adding on to their lead, when Elizabeth Rapp and Camille Sahirul assisted on a Catherine Rapp goal in the 51st minute. It is the first goal of the season for Rapp, as well as the first assist of the season for her twin sister, Elizabeth Rapp. It is Sahirul's second assist of the season, with her first coming earlier in the season in a victory over Jacksonville.
It would not take much longer for the Panthers to add on their final goal of the match, when Noemie Paquin took advantage of a SEMO misplay and hit a strike into the top of the net for FIU's third goal. It is Paquin's first multi-goal game since the 2023 campaign, when she hit two goals in a 3-1 victory over UTEP.
The Panther defense, led by 90 minutes from seniors Delinda Sehlin and Reagan Bridges, shined bright in the match, allowing just one shot and one shot on goal in the contest, as well as zero corner kicks. It is the third shutout for FIU on the season, with the first two coming against Florida Atlantic and Jacksonville.
FIU ended with 15 shots, seven shots on goal and five corner kicks in the match, beating the Redhawks in every stat category.
