Noemi Paquin Wins Second CUSA Offensive Player of the Week in a Row

The senior secured a hat trick in just 7 minutes and 30 seconds and led the Panthers to the win against MTSU

Dallas, Texas - Forward Noemi Paquin has been awarded Conference USA's Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending September 22, league officials announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The senior had a career game in the Panthers' only match of the season. After being down 1-0 heading into the 63rd minute against Middle Tennessee, Paquin hit the game-tying goal off a strike from deep outside the box.

The Canadian native did not stop there, scoring the game-winning goal off a header at the 70:32 mark, assisted by fellow senior Deborah Bien-Aime. Paquin finished her third and final goal nine seconds later, stealing the ball from an MTSU defender on the inbound and put a move on the Blue Raider goalkeeper, promptly securing her first hat trick of her career.

It is the first hat trick by an FIU player since forward Nikole Solis accomplished the feat against Stetson last season.

Paquin has five goals in the Panthers last two games, the most in CUSA in that timeframe. The senior is close to the top of the conference in several stat categories, including first in shots with 33, first in shots on goal with 20, fourth in goals scored with six and sixth in total points with 13.

This is the second week in a row the Paquin has been honored with the award, as well as the second in her career. It is the fifth time a Panthers has received a Player of the Week honor, with Reagan Bridges earning Defensive Player of the Week once, and Valery Restrepo earning Goalkeeper of the Week twice.
