BOCA RATON, Fla. — FIU's volleyball program was defeated in straight sets by Florida Atlantic on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
The Panthers (0-4) were led by the attacking duo of Kira Givans and Jillian Huckabey, whom had eight kills each. Huckabey added 12 digs for her first double-double of her college career.
FIU and Florida Atlantic battled back-and-forth in the opening set as the score was tied at 21-all. The Panthers were eventually downed 25-21 in the opening set and then dropped sets two and three, 25-16, 25-16, respectively.
Kaylee Musick and Savannah Cook both appeared in the setting spot and combined for 23 assists. Travel Morris led the FIU with 4.0 blocks. Mandi Morioka and Courtney O'Brien chipped in on the back line with seven digs each. Anna Feldkamp totaled four kills in the middle while Morris had six. As a team, FIU had 30 kills while FAU had 41.

FIU travels to Durham, N.C. for a weekend of matches hosted by Duke University. The Panthers take on LSU in their opening match on Friday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
