The Panthers dropped their third loss of the season in their last match on September 1st, falling to Miami 1-0.
FIU played well on offense, beating Hurricanes in total shots, 7-5, and shots on goal, 4-2. The Panthers had seven different players get off shots in the contest, and four different players hit shots on goal, all of which were saved by the 'Canes' goalkeeper who ended the evening with four saves.
FIU did not give up many chances, but the one good look Miami had was converted to a score out of the half at the 68:43 mark.
Two defenders in seniors Reagan Bridges and Delinda Sehlin played 90 minutes and led a Panthers strong defense that held Power-4 team, Miami, to just five shots and two shots on goal in the match.
Sophomore Valery Restrepo ended the contest with one save, putting her season total up to 12.
SO FAR THIS SEASON
FIU is 3-3 heading into the first home match of the year. Their first two wins of the season came against FGCU, winning against the Eagles for the first time since the 2010 season, and Florida Atlantic, beating the Owls for the first time since the 2011 season. Their third victory came against another Florida team in Jacksonville in a 3-0 result.
Senior Nikole Solis is the leading goal scorer for the Panthers and tied for first in Conference USA with three goals in five games. Montelene Dymond is credited with two on the year thus far, while first year Antonella Solari, junior Ashly Martinez and senior Noemi Paquin each have one.
Antonella Solari scored the first goal for the Panthers on the season off of an assist by fellow first year Rebecca Baldelomar, an equalizer at the end of the first half of their win against FGCU.
THE RETURNERS
FIU welcomes back nine seniors this season, including First Team All-CUSA selection Noemi Paquin, Second Team selections Reagan Bridges, Camille Sahirul and Nikole Solis, and Third Team selection Delinda Sehlin.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
