MIAMI - FIU Women's basketball will stay at home for a Saturday matinee against Sam Houston on Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.

  • The Panthers are coming off a win over LA Tech, their third in a row against the Lady Techsters dating back to last season. It is the first time in program history FIU has won three in a row against LA Tech.

 
  • Isnelle Natabou achieved her best performance as a Panther against the Lady Techsters, putting up her first double-double in her FIU career and 21st of her career with a 22 point-10 rebound evening.

 
  • The Panthers are tied with Liberty and LA Tech for second in the conference with a 2-1 CUSA record.

 
  • FIU is 1st in CUSA during conference play in FG% at 51.4%, and first overall at 46.8%.

 
  • Junior Parris Atkins is 6th in CUSA in scoring with 14.2 points per game this season, and fifth in field goal percentage at 47.8%. She is second in steals per game with 2.8, and third in total steals with 39.

 
  • Angena Belloso is seventh in the conference in assists per game with 3.0.
     

SCOUTING THE BEARKATS

Sam Houston sits at ninth in the conference with a 0-3 start to CUSA-play after going 7-3 in its non-conference slate. The Bearkats are fifth in the conference in scoring at 66.9 points scored per game, and are allowing 61.8 points per game, also fifth in the conference. A superb rebounding team, Sam Houston is first in the conference in rebounding with 40.2 rebounds per game, and offensive rebounding with 17.7 offensive rebounds a game.

The Bearkats are led by guard Kaila Kelley at 14.1 points scored per game, and forward Deborah Ogayemi with 11.8 points per game and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game, fifth in CUSA. Junior guard Fanta Kone has been a proven facilitator this season, leading the conference in assists per game with 5.8, and is second on the team in steals per game with 2.7, sixth in CUSA.

FIU swept Sam Houston in both their matches last season, the only times the two programs have played each other in their respective histories.
