LAS CRUCES, NM. - Women's basketball dropped their contest against New Mexico State on Thursday evening, 74-50.
The Panthers found themselves in an early deficit, with the Aggies going on a 19-5 run over the first 8:15 of the first quarter. The Panthers would end the opening frame down, 19-8.
The teams battled back-and-forth in the second quarter, but FIU could not make up any ground, going into the half down 31-19.
Down by as many as 14 in the third quarter, the Panthers showed resilience, clawing their way back and cutting the Aggie lead to five points with 1:15 left to play in the third quarter. Senior Isnelle Natabou led the charge for FIU with six points on 3-3 shooting.Â
The center ended with 17 points on an efficient 8-10 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds. It is the second double-double in the past three games for the Czech-native, and 32nd of her career.
Going into the final frame down 49-39, FIU could not mount a fourth-quarter comeback, losing their second game in conference-play.
Junior Parris Atkins was the only other Panther to end the contest in double-digits, scoring 15 points, going 6-7 from the free-throw line, and grabbing seven rebounds.
