Swim & Dive's McLemore and Megdall Sweep Weekly AAC Freshman Awards

Panthers placed first in the FIU Sprint Invite this past weekend

MIAMI - FIU freshman swimmer Tawannah McLemore  and diver Brooke Megdall were recognized as the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Freshman Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Panthers wrapped up competition at the FIU Sprint Invite this past Saturday, Jan. 4  securing a first place finish with 482 points.
 
McLemore, a native of Pompano Beach, Fla., delivered a performance with two top finishes. She secured first place in the 100 IM, clocking 58.46, and set a meet record in the 50 fly with a time of 25.05, the fourth-fastest in the AAC this season. Additionally, the freshman earned a strong fourth-place finish in the 100 fly, posting a time of 59.30.
 
Megdall, from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, earned her fourth consecutive freshman diver of the week honor taking second place in the platform event with a score of 207.30 at the FIU Diving Invitational. The freshman placed sixth in the 1-meter prelims (227.55).
 
She has claimed freshman diiver of the week honors for three consecutive weeks, including the weeks ending Nov. 5, Nov. 12, and Nov. 26.

UP NEXT
Meet competition resumes on Saturday, Jan. 25 as the Panthers head to Fort Myers to take on Florida Gulf Coast.  Events are set to begin at 11 a.m.
