Men's Soccer Hosts No. 24 Charlotte for Senior Night in Home Finale

Panthers have two games left in American Conference play

MIAMI – The FIU men's soccer program returns to Miami for its regular season home finale, hosting the No. 24 Charlotte 49ers in a pivotal American Conference showdown Friday evening at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium.

FIU will honor 13 seniors prior to kickoff on Senior Night: Jesse Addae Osei, Johan Arevalo, David Boccuzzo, Joao Domingues, Tibo Gobet, Mathys Lefebvre, Damian McGregor-Wickham, Enrique Mutsoli, Eduardo Mustre, Scott Neil, Owen Travis, Nigel Van Haveren, and Nicolas Villalobos.
 
The Panthers (5-7-2, 3-3 American) look to snap a three-match losing streak after a 3-2 road loss at Tulsa on Saturday, Oct. 18.
 
With two games remaining, FIU sits in fourth place in the American Conference standings with nine total points. 
 
In the matchup against Tulsa, forward Eduardo Mustre led the way with a two-goal performance in the first half. It marked his fifth career multi-goal effort and second of the season, having also scored twice in FIU's 4-1 win over Omaha on Aug. 21.
 
The fifth-year standout now leads the team in goals (6) and points (12), ranking tied for second in the American in goals. In 39 career games, Mustre has totaled 22 goals in his three-year career with the Panthers.
 
Junior striker Pasquale Capriati follows with four goals and three assists (11 points). Senior Joao Domingues is having a career season with five assists, including four in conference play, which ties for the most in American competition. He added an assist Saturday and has recorded helpers in three of his last four matches.
 
Midfielder Leonardo Consoloni has four assists this season, including one in the Tulsa match. He's logged 76 minutes or more in each contest, with seven full 90-minute efforts.
 
Senior Mathys Lefebvre has appeared in all 14 matches (12 starts), totaling 1,074 minutes—second-most on the team. The graduate midfielder/defender has played four consecutive full 90-minute games.
 
Defender Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano has made 12 consecutive starts (13 total appearances) and recorded seven complete 90-minute performances, adding one assist.
 
Redshirt freshman Diego Sanchez has two assists in 13 matches, including one at Tulsa. Midfielder Nicolas Villalobos has appeared in 13 matches, logging 86 minutes at Tulsa.
 
Senior David Boccuzzo has appeared in all 14 matches with 12 starts, contributing one goal and two assists.
 
Defender Owen Travis anchors the backline, leading the team with 1,112 minutes across 13 starts and nine full 90-minute games.
 
Goalkeeper Nigel Van Haveren leads the conference with 43 saves and three shutouts. He recorded four saves and an assist in the Tulsa match.

HISTORY WITH CHARLOTTE
Friday marks the 21st all-time meeting between the programs. The teams met twice last season—first battling to a draw on Oct. 12, 2024, before FIU fell 2-1 in the American Conference Championship match on Nov. 17.
 
In their last home matchup on Oct. 27, 2023, FIU earned a 2-0 win behind two goals from Mustre.

SCOUTING THE 49ERS
Charlotte sits atop the American Conference with a 7-3-2 record and a 4-0-1 mark in league play (13 points). The 49ers have won four straight, most recently defeating No. 22 Florida Atlantic, 1-0, on Oct. 17.
 
Denis Krioutchenkov leads the team with five goals, while Elias Arsvoll has four goals and four assists (team-high 12 points). Andreas Evangelou ranks first in minutes played (961) and has three goals, while Orthodoxos Orthodoxou has netted four goals this season.
 
Goalkeeper Leonard Stritter has started all 12 matches, posting 39 saves and five shutouts.
