Men's Soccer Takes on Seton Hall in Final Non-Conference Matchup of the Season

Panthers enter with five wins

MIAMI – The FIU men's soccer program hits the road for its final non-conference matchup of the season on Tuesday night, taking on Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J.

FIU (5-4-2) enters the contest coming off a 3-1 victory over Temple on Friday, Oct. 3, securing its fourth home win and extending its undefeated streak at Leyva Family Field this season. The Panthers struck early with three first-half goals from Enrique Mutsoli, Johan Arevalo, and Owen Travis to notch their third American Conference win of the year.
 
Junior Pasquale Capriati continues to lead the attack, pacing the team in goals (4), points (11), shots (14), and shots on goal (9), while tying for the team lead in assists (3). Freshman Johan Helan has added three goals this season, including one in FIU's 3-2 win over FGCU on Sept. 18.
 
Senior Mathys Lefebvre has been a steady presence, totaling 804 minutes—fourth-most on the team—while appearing in all 11 matches and making nine starts across both the midfield and backline.
 
Midfielder David Boccuzzo has stepped up in a starting role, logging 11 appearances and 10 starts with one goal, two assists, and four shots. He picked up his second assist of the season at then-No. 1 Portland on Sept. 30.

Senior Nicolas Villalobos has two assists in ten matches including tallying an assist in the win vs Temple.
 
Forward Eduardo Mustre returned to the lineup recently, scoring in the match at Portland and contributing 66 minutes in the win over Temple. Enrique Mutsoli opened Friday's match with his second goal of the season, earning a spot on the American Conference Honor Roll for his offensive performance. He's appeared in all 11 matches this season.
 
Graduate student Johan Arevalo notched his first goal as a Panther on Friday and has seen action in four matches this year.
 
Sophomore Leonardo Consoloni has been a force in the midfield, tied for the team lead with three assists, including a two-assist outing in the victory over Temple. He's made 10 appearances, eight starts, and recorded back-to-back 90-minute performances.
 
Senior Joao Domingues also owns three assists and has played in all 11 matches this season. Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano continues to provide reliability, appearing in 10 contests with one assist, including back-to-back full-match performances and an assist at Portland.
 
Defender Owen Travis has been a key part of the backline, ranking second on the team in minutes played (842). He's started 10 matches and contributed both a goal and an assist, including his first collegiate goal in the win over Temple. The Locust Grove, Ga., native has gone the full 90 minutes in each of his last three outings.
 
In goal, Nigel Van Haveren has started 10 matches, posting 35 saves, a 1.20 goals-against average, and three shutouts. He added three saves in Friday's win and currently leads the conference in shutouts.

As a team, FIU ranks second in the American in total shots (127), tied for the league lead in goals, and sits second in assists (20).

HISTORY WITH THE PIRATES
Tuesday's match marks the third all-time meeting between the programs.

The last meeting came in the 2024 season opener on Aug. 22 in Miami, where the Panthers fell 1-0. FIU earned a 2-1 win in the first matchup on Sept. 8, 2019.

SCOUTING SETON HALL
Seton Hall enters Tuesday's contest with a 4-2-4 record, including a 2-0-1 mark in BIG EAST play, and holds an RPI of 19.
 
Til Kauschke leads the Pirates with four goals and two assists in 10 appearances, while Agustin Resch has chipped in two goals and two assists. Joseph Min has contributed a goal and an assist through seven matches. Defensively, Liam Guske has started all 10 contests, logging 893 minutes on the backline.
 
In net, Matias Molina has started every match, posting 28 saves, a 0.80 goals-against average, and six shutouts on the year.

UP NEXT
The Panthers heads back home for a pivotal conference matchup vs South Florida on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. It will be streamed live on ESPN+ from Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium.
