Swimming & Diving Falls to Liberty in Conference Clash

Panthers won eight events over the two-day meet

MIAMI – The FIU swimming & diving program fell to the Liberty Flames on Saturday afternoon in a 219-209 decision from the Doral Aquatic Center.

The Panthers posted eight event victories and 31 top-three finishes across the meet, highlighted by standout performances from freshman Pauline Zeller, senior Nicole Frank, and sophomore Tawannah McLemore.
 
Zeller led the way with three individual wins and one runner-up finish, clocking first in the 50 butterfly (24.34), 100 IM (56.97), and 100 butterfly (53.97) before placing second in the 200 butterfly (2:02.72).
 
Frank added a first-place finish in the 200 IM (2:03.51) and finished second in both the 200 breaststroke (2:18.29) and 400 IM (4:23.16).
 
McLemore impressed in the sprints, capturing first in the 50 freestyle (23.18), while also taking second in the 100 IM (57.63) and earning two third-place finishes in the 50 butterfly (24.80) and 100 freestyle (52.76).
 
Junior Diana Santamaria added a win in the 50 backstroke (25.79) and placed fourth in the 100 backstroke (56.65), while senior Oumy Diop picked up a pair of top-three finishes, taking second in the 50 backstroke (26.42) and third in the 100 butterfly (55.85).
 
Sophomore Frida Stretre Løbersli continued her strong season in the breaststroke, finishing second in both the 50 (28.61) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.81).
 
In freestyle events, senior Ana Luiza Daisson collected three top-five results, including second in the 100 freestyle (52.19), third in the 200 freestyle (1:56.18), and fourth in the 50 freestyle (24.33).
 
The Panthers also shined in relays, taking first in both the 200 medley relay (1:41.14) and 200 freestyle relay (1:33.12), while finishing second in the 400 freestyle (3:30.58) and 400 medley relay (3:45.94).On the diving side, FIU finished with a top score in the 1-meter event as senior Ruska Lehtonen posted a score of 251.55, while junior Kristina Keenan took fourth for 235.20.

In the 3-meter event, three Panthers placed in the top-five with Lehtonen (262.88) taking second, Keenan (254.48) scored third. Freshman Sofia Torstensson placed fourth on 3-meter (250.28) and Brooke Megdall rounded out the top six with a 228.53 on the board.

FIU prepares takes on NSU/Lynn in a tri-meet on Friday, Nov. 7 - Saturday, Nov. 8 at the NSU Aquatic Center. Diving will partcipate in the South Florida Diving Invitational.
