Men's Basketball Turns Around for Battle with Omaha

FIU looking to close November on a high note; Stephenson remains second in nation in offensive rebounds per game

MIAMI– Men's basketball (2-3) closes its Feast Week festivities with a Wednesday matinee against Omaha. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.

The Inbound
The Panthers gave Coach Ballard his 100th career win with a 104-80 rout over Fort Lauderdale. The 104 points were a season-high, and several different Panthers had big nights in the win as dunks were flying in the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.

Omaha is 2-5 and lost to James Madison in its first matchup of the MTE. The Mavericks have two players averaging over 16 points per game.

Series History
Omaha and FIU have never met in program history. This is the fourth first-time opponent for the Panthers this year.

Notable Storylines

- Kennedy Brown appeared for Omaha during the 2022-23 season. Two of his former teammates play on the Mavericks currently.
- Corey Stephenson's 5.4 offensive rebounds per game are second in the nation, and the team overall is third in the nation in offensive rebounds per game. He had 25 points and 8 rebounds in the team's last game.
- Ashton Williamson has consecutive double-digit scoring games after recording ten against JMU.
- Hamed Olayinka is 50th in the nation in field goal percentage at 61.4 percent.
- The Panthers are top-25 in the country in offensive rebounds per game (3rd), rebounds per game (23rd) and blocks per game (24th).
