FIU (6-8-2, 4-4 American) wrapped up the regular season last Wednesday, Oct. 29, with a 2-0 setback at UAB. Friday's match marks FIU's seventh all-time appearance in the American Conference Championship, holding a 4-2 record in tournament play.

Last season as the No. 5 seed, FIU defeated No. 4 seed Florida Atlantic in the first round before advancing past top-seeded Memphis in the semifinals to reach its second American Championship Final, where the Panthers fell 2-1 in overtime to eventual champion Charlotte.

A win on Friday would send the Panthers to the semifinals, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they would face the top-seeded Niners.

Offensively, Eduardo Mustre leads the Panthers with a team-high six goals and 12 points, ranking tied for third in the American. The senior forward also paces the squad in shots (26) and has now tallied 22 career goals in 41 matches with FIU. Since returning to action on Sept. 21, Mustre has logged three full 90-minute performances, including back-to-back matches against No. 24 Charlotte and UAB.

Johan Helan has appeared in all 16 matches (14 starts), contributing three goals and six points, including a 56-minute effort against UAB.

Pasquale Capriati sits second on the team with four goals and three assists through 14 matches, including the game-winning goal in FIU's 1-0 victory over Missouri State earlier this season on Sept. 21.

Joao Domingues is having a career year, leading the conference with five assists, including four in league play, and registering helpers in three of his last six appearances. David Boccuzzo has also played a key role in the attack, starting 14 of 16 matches with one goal and two assists.

On the backline, Owen Travis leads FIU in minutes (1,292), going the full 90 in eight straight matches and 11 total this season. He's also chipped in with two goals and one assist.

Mathys Lefebvre follows with 1,248 minutes across 15 matches (13 starts), while Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano has started 14 consecutive contests and logged nine full 90-minute efforts, adding an assist.

Friday marks just the second meeting between the programs, with FIU claiming a 1-0 win on Sept. 21, 2025, behind Capriati's decisive strike in Miami.
