MIAMI — FIU's tennis program enjoyed its home court advantage at the PayCargo Tennis Center on Friday morning, completing a 4-0 sweep of visiting-North Florida.
The Panthers (3-2) won their first match of the 2025 season in front of their home crowd, taking the doubles point and the first three singles matches to finish. Valery Gynina proved to be the clinching singles point for FIU with a 6-1, 6-4 win.
To begin the match, FIU battled with UNF in doubles, but got halfway to its first match point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles by the duo of Ekaterina Khairutdinova and Gynina. Oyinlomo Quade and Katerina Mandelikova secured the doubles' point for the Panthers a short time later with a hard-fought 7-6 win.
In singles, Mandelikova made the score 2-0 in FIU's favor with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the third slot. Quadre also won with identical set scores at No. 2 singles, garnering a 6-3, 6-3 result. Gynina controlled her match as well at No. 3 to clinch the match for FIU.

The Panthers continue play at home on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m., taking on North Texas.
