DALLAS, Texas – The FIU swimming and diving program delivered an impressive performance on Friday night, securing four gold medals at the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships on day three of competition.
Competing at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium, the Panthers remain in a tight race for the team title, sitting in second place with 967 points—just 37.5 points behind first-place Rice.
Junior
Emma Becker led the charge, setting a new school record and AAC Championship record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a blistering time of 59.02. Her performance eclipsed the previous FIU record (59.10), set by
Christie Chue in 2023, and secured an NCAA B Cut qualification.
Teammates
Ingrid Huszar (1:00.55) and Frida Stretre Løbersli (1:00.94) also posted NCAA B Cut times, finishing third and fifth, respectively, in the event.
In the 400-yard individual medley (IM), junior
Nicole Frank captured the gold with a time of 4:12.23, marking her third consecutive AAC title in the event—an unprecedented achievement in conference history.
Sophomore
Oumy Diop claimed her first individual medal, securing bronze in the 100-yard butterfly with an NCAA B Cut time of 53.02, while freshman
Tawannah McLemore placed sixth with a time of 54.11.
FIU continued its dominance in the 100-yard backstroke, with
Diana Santamaria winning her first individual gold, touching the wall at 53.74.
The Panthers capped the night with a stellar performance in the 400-yard medley relay, as the team of Becker, Diop, McLemore, and Santamaria clinched gold with a time of 3:36.12.
On the diving boards, FIU placed three athletes in the A-final of the 3-meter competition.
Av Osero took home bronze with a season-best score of 315.55, while freshman
Brooke Megdall recorded a personal-best 296.80 to finish fifth.
