TAMPA, Fla. — FIU's women's tennis program fell to Rice 4-3 in a neutral contest on Saturday, hosted by USF.
The Panthers (11-3) fell for the first time since Feb. 2, falling in a tight match to the Owls (14-5). FIU dropped the doubles point, but won 3-of-6 singles matches. The Panthers tied the match at 3-all before Rice clinched with the final singles match victory.
Ekaterina Khairutdinova won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Valery Gynina won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Katerina Mandelikova took home a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
