TAMPA, Fla. — FIU's women's tennis team swept South Florida on Sunday to close out its weekend on Florida's West Coast.
The Panthers (12-3) got back on track with 4-0 win on Sunday, earning the doubles' point and notching three wins in singles. Valery Gynina played a part in both clinches as she clinched the doubles' point with teammate Dana Baidaulet and also clinched the match with her win at No. 3 singles.
Gynina and Baidaulet won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles following Ekaterina Khairutdinova and Petja Drame's win at No. 1 doubles. Oyinlomo Quadre was FIU's first winner in singles, notching a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Khairutdinova followed that with a straight-set win at No. 1, 6-3, 6-3. Gynina's match clinch at No. 3 singles was courtesy of a hard-fought, 7-5, 7-6 win.
