MIAMI – The FIU baseball program dropped a 3-0 decision to Liberty in its final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon at FIU Baseball Stadium.
Prior to first pitch, FIU recognized 12 seniors for their contributions to the program: Jaydon Bishop, Hector Candelas, Javier Crespo, Austin Dearing, David Eckaus, Kishon Frett, Bryce Greene, Owen Puk, Nelson Rivera Flores, Logan Runde, Shane Tucker, and Brylan West.
In a tightly contested matchup, the game remained scoreless until the eighth inning when Liberty broke through with the eventual game-winning run. The Flames added two insurance runs in the ninth to secure the series win.
On the mound, senior Logan Runde delivered a standout performance in his 11th start of the season, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings and recording a career-high nine strikeouts. Tracen Cameron followed with 1.2 hitless innings of relief. Kevin Martin was tagged with the loss after allowing one earned run over two innings while striking out two. Juan Villarreal pitched the ninth, yielding two runs.
At the plate, Austin Dearing led the offense with a two-hit performance, including a double. Javier Crespo, Alex Ulloa, Kareh Valentin, and Brylan West each contributed a hit.
FIU concludes its home slate with 23 wins—the most at FIU Baseball Stadium since the 2014 season.
