MIAMI – FIU men's soccer midfielder
Mathys Lefebvre has been named a recipient of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship, as announced by Conference USA on Thursday afternoon.
Lefebvre, entering his second season with the Panthers, is pursuing a dual MBA in Business Administration and Sports Management, maintaining an impressive 3.95 GPA.
In his first season wearing the Blue & Gold in 2024, Lefebvre appeared in 16 matches with 14 starts, logging two goals and nine shots across 1,234 minutes of action. The graduate midfielder scored in a 3-1 victory over Tulsa on Sept. 29 and again in the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championship against Charlotte on Nov. 17.
This year marks the 17th edition of the award named in honor of Dr. Jim Castañeda, who served Rice University for 46 years as an educator, coach, and Faculty Athletics Representative before his passing in 2008.
Each year, Conference USA awards $4,000 scholarships to outstanding graduate student-athletes, as selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the CUSA Board of Directors.
