The Panthers (1-0-1) enter the trip following a  two-game homestand that featured a dominant 4-1 victory over Omaha (Aug. 21) and a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Creighton (Aug. 24). After Friday's clash, FIU will continue its Carolina tour with a visit to South Carolina on Tuesday, Sept. 2, for a nonconference tilt against the Gamecocks.

Midfielder Scott Neil has wasted no time making an impact, leading the team with five points through two games (three assists, one goal). Neil set the tone in the opener against Omaha, recording three assists—including the game-winner—the most by a Panther in a match since Sept. 23, 2022 (Julian Hodek vs SMU).

He followed with his first goal of the season against Creighton, earning a spot on the American Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Captain Eduardo Mustre has also been a force early, notching a two-goal performance against Omaha for his fourth career brace and sixth career game-winner. He currently leads FIU with nine shots.

Newcomer Pasquale Capriati has contributed one goal and one assist while ranking second on the team with six shots. Senior Enrique Mutsoli scored his first Panther goal against Omaha, while Nicolas Villalobos and Diego Sanchez have each added early-season assists.
Freshman Johan Helan has earned two starts at striker, logging the second-most minutes on the squad (160).

Between the posts, Nigel Van Haveren has allowed just two goals while recording five saves across the opening two matches.

HISTORY WITH NC STATE
Friday marks the third all-time meeting between FIU and NC State, and the first since 1984.

The teams last met on Oct. 19, 1984, in a 3-0 win in Miami for NC State

SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
The nationally ranked Wolfpack are off to a 2-0 start, outscoring opponents 8-0, including a 6-0 rout of Wofford on Aug. 24. NC State is coming off a strong 2024 campaign that featured 10 wins and a run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

Forward Donovan Phillip has led the charge with four goals and eight points, including a hat trick against Wofford, ranking him fifth nationally.

Tyler Caton and Max Ogawa have also found the net, while Taig Healy, Riley Moloney, and Calem Tommy have chipped in two assists apiece. Goalkeeper Logan Erb has started both matches, posting a pair of shutouts.
