DURHAM, N.C. – The FIU volleyball program secured its first victory of the season in commanding fashion on Saturday, sweeping the Bryant Bulldogs in straight sets inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Panthers rolled to set wins of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-14 in their second matchup of the Duke Tournament.
FIU posted 46 kills on the day, with five Panthers recording five or more. Senior
Magda Stambrowska led the charge with 10 kills at an impressive .667 hitting percentage.
Kira Givans followed with nine kills, while
Courtney O'Brien added eight.
Emma Beretich chipped in seven, and
Jillian Huckabey tallied five.
In her first start of the season,
Savannah Cook directed the offense with 36 assists to go along with 12 digs.
Mandi Morioka anchored the back row with a team-high 18 digs.
The Panthers came out firing in the opening set, building an 18-6 lead before cruising to a 12-point win. Set two was tighter, as Bryant closed the gap to 10-8, but FIU responded with a decisive 6-2 run. Givans fueled the frame with six kills to push FIU to a six-point victory.
In the third set, FIU pulled away behind a late surge, highlighted by back-to-back kills from Stambrowska that stretched the lead to five in the set.
Beka Pfefferkorn rallied later, as the Panthers clinched their first win of the 2025 campaign.
