MIAMI – FIU men's soccer defender Owen Travis has been named American Conference Defender of the Week, while David Boccuzzo earned a spot on the league's Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Travis collected his first weekly honor of the season following a standout performance in FIU's 1-0 road victory at Memphis in the conference opener on Friday, Sept. 12. The graduate student anchored the back line, logging a full 90 minutes to help secure the Panthers' first clean sheet of the year.
 
Through five starts this season, Travis has totaled 418 minutes of action, including three complete matches.
 
Boccuzzo provided the decisive moment in the win over Memphis, scoring the lone game-winner for his first goal in the Blue & Gold. The senior has appeared in all six matches this season, earning five starts while adding one goal on six total shots.

FIU takes on FGCU on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. from Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium. It will be streamed live on ESPN+.
