FIU (2-2-2) enters the matchup fresh off its first conference victory of the season, a 1-0 shutout at Memphis on Friday, Sept. 12. Senior David Boccuzzo delivered the game-winner, scoring his first career goal as a Panther to secure the American Conference-opening win. For his performance, Boccuzzo earned a spot on the American Conference Weekly Honor Roll — the first weekly honor of his FIU career.

Offensively, newcomers Pasquale Capriati and Johan Helan have paced the Panthers with a combined 11 points. Capriati leads the squad with seven points, recording two goals and three assists while firing 12 shots, including two at Memphis. Helan has started all six matches, ranking second on the team in minutes (453) while contributing two goals and four points.

Scott Neil leads the team in minutes played (467) with six starts, while senior Joao Domingues registered his first assist of the season last Friday, setting up Boccuzzo's winner. Midfielder Leonardo Consoloni has logged three consecutive 90-minute performances, adding six shots on the year.

Sophomore Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano has made an impact with four straight starts, and graduate defender Owen Travis continues to anchor the backline. Travis was named American Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his role in FIU's clean sheet at Memphis.

Between the posts, junior Nigel Van Haveren recorded his first shutout of the season and the fourth of his career against Memphis. In five starts this year, Van Haveren has tallied 20 saves, ranking third in the conference.

The last meeting in Miami came on Oct. 25, 2022, when FIU claimed a 3-2 win.

SCOUTING FGCU
FGCU enters the match with a 4-2-1 record under first-year head coach Oliver Twelvetrees. The Eagles are coming off back-to-back home wins against Florida Memorial and Houston Christian.
